Karnataka’s chief minister Siddaramaiah has verified that a low-intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) caused the explosion.
“We are examining the CCTV footage. It was an explosive blast. We don’t know who has done it. The police are at the spot. I have asked the home minister to review the situation,” He made the statement while speaking to journalists in Mysuru.
The chief minister clarified that the explosion was not a high explosive but an improvised blast. Siddaramaiah stressed the importance of refraining from politicizing the incident, highlighting the previous blast in Karnataka that occurred during the BJP government’s tenure in Mangaluru.

Following initial suspicions of a gas leak causing the blast at the bustling city eatery and leaving at least nine injured, the fire department dismissed this theory on Friday. Instead, they discovered a bag at the scene. Forensic teams are now investigating to determine the true cause of the explosion.

The injured individuals have been transferred to various hospitals for medical care. Officials reported that the group included two staff members and seven customers.

At 1:08 pm today, the fire department received a report of an LPG leakage fire at the cafe. Upon arrival, our officers found no fire but discovered a bag behind a woman seated with six other customers. The bag exploded, suspected to be triggered by an object inside. TN Shivashankar, Director of Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services department, shared this information with PTI.
