David Warner hit 81 runs in just 49 balls during the third T20I match against the West Indies. He was awarded the Player of the Series title.
After Australia’s loss to the West Indies in the last T20I game, experienced player David Warner spoke about his future in T20I cricket. Though Australia had already won the first two matches of the series, Warner was the highest scorer in this third game, which did not affect the series outcome, played at Perth Stadium.
Australia defeated the former champions by 11 runs in the first game of the series. Warner’s excellent performance, with 70 runs from just 36 balls, was crucial for Australia to go ahead with a 1-0 lead against the Caribbean team. In the second T20 International, Warner was out after scoring 22 runs from 19 balls, but Glenn Maxwell’s outstanding century of 120 not out led Australia to a 34-run victory.
Warner Takes Charge in Australia’s Game Against West Indies
In the last game of the series, David Warner kept up his good performance by scoring 81 runs in 49 balls. He hit the ball well, getting nine 4s and three 6s, despite the tough competition from Rovman Powell’s team in Perth. But even with Warner’s great batting, Australia couldn’t win. The West Indies beat them by 37 runs, which was a small victory for them. After the game, Warner announced that this was his last time playing for Australia in Perth.

“It was nice watching the team out there. I’m going to have quite a bit of free time after our upcoming series in New Zealand, before the Indian Premier League starts and then before preparing for the T20 World Cup. I’m really looking forward to spending quality time with my kids and being at home. It caught me off guard that a fast bowler, throwing over 145 kmph, wasn’t really trying to take me out of the game. The field sizes in the Caribbean are not that big. I’m definitely retiring; we have a lot of talented young players coming up, so it’s their turn to shine,” said Warner, after being recognized as the best player of the series.

Over his career in T20Is, he has scored 3067 runs, making him the seventh batter in the world to score more than 3000 runs in this format of the game.
