Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir on March 7, 2024. He will arrive at Bakshi Stadium around noon to partake in the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ program.

During the program, the Prime Minister will dedicate a significant investment of about Rs 5000 crore to the nation for the ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’ aimed at boosting the agricultural economy in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he will unveil multiple projects in the tourism sector valued at over Rs 1400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes. These projects include the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ in Srinagar. In a show of support, the Prime Minister will hand out appointment letters to approximately 1000 new government recruits in Jammu and Kashmir.

Moreover, he will engage with beneficiaries of various government initiatives, including women achievers, successful entrepreneurs, and farmers.Furthermore, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Tourist Destination Poll’ and ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’. He will also announce the selection of tourist destinations under the Challenge Based Destination Development Scheme.

Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the ‘Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’ (HADP), a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the agri-economy of Jammu and Kashmir. This comprehensive program covers Horticulture, Agriculture, and Livestock husbandry, benefiting around 250,000 farmers through skill development on the dedicated Daksh Kisan portal. The establishment of 2000 Kisan Khidmat Ghars and the implementation of robust value chains will uplift the farming community, creating employment opportunities for numerous marginal families in the region.

The Prime Minister aims to enhance the tourism and pilgrimage experience at key sites by upgrading infrastructure and facilities. Initiatives under Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes, valued at over Rs 1400 crore, will be launched nationwide. Projects to be unveiled include the ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ in Srinagar, tourism enhancements in Meghalaya’s Northeast circuit, spiritual circuits in Bihar and Rajasthan, rural and Tirthankar circuits in Bihar, the development of Jogulamba Devi Temple in Telangana, and Amarkantak Temple in Madhya Pradesh.

To elevate the spiritual journey of pilgrims and tourists at the Hazratbal Shrine, efforts have been dedicated to crafting exceptional infrastructure and amenities. The ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ project encompasses various aspects such as site development, boundary wall construction, illumination of the precinct, enhancement of Ghats and Devri Paths, creation of a Sufi interpretation center, Tourist Facilitation Centre, Signages installation, Multilevel Storied Car parking, Public Convenience Block construction, and Shrine entrance Gateway enhancement.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate approximately 43 projects aimed at enhancing a diverse array of pilgrimage and tourist destinations nationwide. These initiatives encompass significant religious sites such as the Annavaram Temple in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh, the Navagraha Temples in Thanjavur and Mayiladuthurai Districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal district of Puducherry, the Sri Chamundeshwari Devi Temple in Mysore District, Karnataka, the Karni Mata Mandir in Bikaner District, Rajasthan, the Maa Chintpurni Temple in Una District, Himachal Pradesh, and the Basilica of Bom Jesus Church in Goa, among others.

During the program, the Prime Minister will unveil 42 tourist destinations chosen under the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) Scheme. This innovative initiative, introduced in the Union Budget 2023-24, aims to enhance tourist experiences by fostering the growth of destinations while emphasizing sustainability and enhancing competitiveness in the tourism industry. The 42 destinations have been categorized into four groups: 16 under Culture & Heritage Destinations, 11 spiritual destinations, 10 for Ecotourism and Amrit Dharohar, and 5 Vibrant Villages.

The Prime Minister is set to launch a groundbreaking nationwide initiative, ‘Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024’, to gauge the nation’s tourism pulse. This nationwide poll aims to involve citizens in pinpointing their favorite tourist spots and understanding perceptions across five tourism categories: Spiritual, Cultural & Heritage, Nature & Wildlife, Adventure, and an ‘other’ category. In addition to the main categories, the ‘other’ section allows participants to vote for personal favorites, unveiling hidden gems like Vibrant Border Villages, Wellness Tourism, Wedding Tourism, and more. This poll is conducted on the MyGov platform, the citizen engagement portal of the Indian Government.

The Prime Minister is set to unveil the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign,’ aiming to inspire the Indian diaspora to become ambassadors for Incredible India, boosting tourism to the country. Stemming from the Prime Minister’s call to action, the campaign encourages Indian diaspora members to urge at least five non-Indian friends to visit India. With a diaspora exceeding 3 crore overseas Indians, this community can significantly drive Indian tourism, serving as influential cultural ambassadors.
