Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, students will have the chance to take their 10th and 12th class board exams twice, as mentioned by Pradhan.

The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, announced on Monday that students will soon have the opportunity to take their 10th and 12th-grade board exams twice a year beginning in the academic year 2025-26. This initiative, aimed at alleviating academic pressure, is in line with the goals set forth in the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020.

He underscored that the NEP 2020 envisages biannual board examinations to provide students with ample opportunities to excel academically. This will also reduce the stress and pressure on students, as they do not have to solely rely on one exam to determine their future. The new education policy also introduces a multidisciplinary approach in higher education, allowing students to choose from a wide range of subjects and courses rather than being limited by traditional streams.

Furthermore, the NEP 2020 emphasizes the importance of holistic development and aims to create well-rounded individuals who are not just academically proficient but also possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. It encourages vocational education from an early age, providing practical knowledge and hands-on experience to students for better employability.

Another crucial aspect of the NEP 2020 is its focus on digital learning. With the advancement of technology, the policy aims to make quality education accessible to all, especially in rural and remote areas. It promotes the use of digital tools and platforms for teaching and learning, making education more interactive, engaging, and personalized.

Moreover, the NEP 2020 also recognizes the importance of teachers in shaping young minds. It emphasizes the need for continuous professional development and training of teachers to keep up with changing times and evolving teaching methods.

According to the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) announced by the Ministry of Education in August last year, board examinations will be held at least twice a year to ensure students have enough time and opportunity to perform well. They will also get the option to retain the best score.

During the event at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, Pradhan interacted with students, gauging their reception to the new examination format and urged them to aim for their highest potential across both exam sittings. The event at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur sounds like a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with Pradhan and share their thoughts on the new examination format. It’s great to see educators encouraging students to strive for their highest potential in both exam sittings. Your dedication to empowering students is truly inspiring!

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision through the NEP is to keep students stress-free, enrich them with quality education, keep students linked with culture and prepare them for the future. This is the formula for making India a developed country by 2047,” he said.

Pradhan delivered a compelling address to the attentive audience gathered at the launch event of the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh. In the program’s inaugural phase, a comprehensive total of 211 schools within the state are slated for enhancements, structured around a ‘hub and spoke’ model for optimal impact. Noteworthy to mention is the allocated budget of ₹2 crore designated for each school’s improvement, a crucial detail emphasized by Pradhan in his impactful speech.

“Education in Indian languages forms the cornerstone of the National Education Policy 2020, aiming not only to promote multilingualism but also to safeguard the rich linguistic heritage of India. The expectation from the Government of Chhattisgarh is that they will enthusiastically execute all the facets delineated in #NEP2020, commencing from the early years of Kindergarten. This will ensure a solid educational groundwork for our budding learners in the approaching academic session,” the minister articulated in a post disseminated on the X platform.
