HYDERABAD: Six members of a family, who were sleeping at their residence in Mancherial, died in a fire accident on early Saturday.
Mancherial police said that the incident took place at Venkatapur. A couple – Maasa Sivayya and his wife Padma- their relative Shantaiah, Padma’s niece Moulika and her children- Himabindu and Sweetie – died on the spot.
It looks like they all died while they were asleep since their bodies were in a sleeping position.
It was around 12.30am on Saturday, the fire accident took place. The locals, on seeing the fire, alerted the police and fire department officials. In less than one- and-a-half hour, all these 6 persons got burnt alive.
It was two days ago Padma’s niece Moulika, who is from Kondapalli mandal, came to her aunty’s house along with her children. The house, which was built mostly with wood, led to heavy smoke following the fire accident. In the accident, the whole structure was burnt to ashes.
On knowing about the fire, Mancherial deputy commissioner of police Akhil Mahajan and other senior officers reached the spot. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
