Indian American Forum denounces custodial death of Dalit woman All You Need To Know

Chicago: Indian American Forum (IAF), an organization of secular liberal Indian Americans. It has denounced the custodial death of a Dalit woman in Telangana.

The forum also appealed to the National Human Rights Commission to take an attention up the incident and also pressure the government to bring in strict laws to make sure the ethical and constitutional power of the police to protect the human rights of persons in custody.

Previously, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) had released a notice to the government of Telangana.

NCSC Chairman Vijay Sampla warned the officers that if the action taken report is not received within the given time

The Commission will come into action with the powers of the civil court’s consult on it under Article 338 of the Constitution of India and will release notice for personal appearance before the commission in Delhi.

NCSC has released notice to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police District Bhongir.

She was taken into custody along with her son Uday Kiran on the complaint of theft lodged by the owner.

It is claimed that the woman later died in Addagudur police station custody in Bhongir district due to ostensible police torture.
