HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand has launched Anti-Drug Committees (ADC) in 55 colleges during an event held at Osmania University on Saturday.
The city police commissioner has earlier made it mandatory for all educational institutions in the city to have ADCs, whose main responsibility is to conduct meetings, workshops with students and coordinate with the local police in anti-drug campaigns.
Police urged the college managements to put up banners, signages in the premises of their campuses. “Cops will take the anti-drugs drive forward to schools in the second phase,” Anand said.
He also said that ADCs will serve as a bridge for effective coordination between police and the colleges in the fight against narcotics abuse and trade. ADC comprises of five members drawn from the teaching staff, non teaching staff including, hostel wardens and the student representatives, to guide the youngsters.
