20-year-old set ablaze in Andhra Pradesh: Parents & siblings arrested

Andhra Pradesh News: A tragic, Kadapa police on Wednesday arrested a family whose child was set ablaze by her family members in Rayachoti town for not accepting the proposal of marriage. 

Tahseen (20), a resident of Rahiman Masjid street in Kothapalli, fell in love with her relative Imran. The woman’s father, Patan Mahammad is Shareef, mother Patan Munvar Jahan and brother Patan Tajuddin raised an objection to the relationship and said no to the wedding as they had fixed her wedding with another person.

When the woman rejected their proposal, the angered parents doused petrol and attempted to set her on fire on Tuesday evening. Elder sister rescued her and took her to a hospital for treatment for burn injuries.

Deputy superintendent of police (Rayachoti) R Vasudevan told that, based on the victim’s statement, a case was filed and an investigation was deployed. A team led by Rayachoti circle inspector arrested the accused and moved them to judicial remand on Wednesday.

Superintendent of police (Kadapa) KKN Anburajan strictly warned that the police department would not hesitate to take severe actions against those who are committing crimes against women.

The victim was shifted to the nearby hospital sooner the treatment started, the victim’s condition would be stable as of now. The case has been registered and further investigation is going on, the police department and the hospital are quite shocked with this incident. 

The accused have been arrested by the police and the police department sent the culprits to judicial proceedings, they will be in the judicial custody till the investigation is completed. The police officials have warned the citizens to be cautious about the crimes against women, they won’t hesitate to punish the culprits strictly.

Andhra Pradesh incident took place because of the ego of the people, the parents should consider their children’s opinion for their marriage proposals, it’s their right to choose the life partner but the children should inform the parents earlier if they like someone and wanted to get married.
