CBSE to submit Class 12 Evaluation Criteria; Supreme Court Hearing Today
News from New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday told the Supreme Court of India that for the Classes of 11th and 12th, the marks will be based on unit test/mid-term/pre-board examinations and 40 percent weightage will be given on it.
Results will likely be declared by July 31.
Attorney General K.K. Venugopal, regarded as representative of the CBSE, submitted that the marks of practical/internal assessment and examination of Class 12 will be on actual basis as uploaded by the school on the CBSE portal.
The calculations of theory marks for Class 12 will be based on performance in one or more UnitTest(s)/Mid-Term/Pre-Board(s) theory examinations. The result committee of the schools may decide weightage to be given to each examination based on the credibility and reliability of the assessment exams.

For example, if the committee might be of the considered view that only the Pre-Board exams may be taken into consideration that’s it, then a full weightage can be given to that component. Likewise, another school Result committee may decide to give the same weightage to Pre-Board exams and Mid-Term exams,” said the CBSE affidavit in the Supreme court.
The CBSE board also submitted the performance of the students in Class 11th and Class 10th examinations and will also be factored in, while making the assessments. But the results will be decided on the basis of the performance in the classes 10th, 11th, and 12th.
The CBSE board also said while 30 percent of marks will be based on Class 11 final exams, 30 percent marks based on the best-of-three Class 10th marks will also be included while making the assessments. A bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar is hearing the matter in SC.
The CBSE board also told that a result committee will be prepared under the principals of the school and will be formed in each school consisting of two senior-most PGT from the same school and two PGT from neighbouring schools as well.
